Friday Finds

bottles, pottery bowls, small chests, vintage finds, thrift shopping
A Friday Finds post with nary a book to be seen.

In between the time spent moving everything in the dining room and kitchen and breakfast room into the living room, I did a little therapy shopping.

And dreamt of the day when the kitchen is mine again.

(And the reno has not even started!)

Not old, but the perfect size brown bottles for decor.

Bought two serving bowls of this pattern.

Not marked.

Looks and feels like Blue Ridge.

I know it has a name because I once had a set of salad bowls.

This is the pink one.

And this is the green one.

The set would have had a yellow and a blue one also.

No luck in finding the other two.

Someone please tell me if you know this pattern.

A boudoir lamp featuring a frolicking nude.

A set of two soup bowls with small plates - pink floral on white - Royal Sphinx.

Collected milk glass pieces for a spring display in the booth.

Small creamer for a birthday present.

Black wire basket.

Divided box.

Plaid Thermos.

Three-compartment basket with hinged lids.

Small three drawer chest - needs some loving.

Another three drawer chest - also needs some loving.

All of these photos were taken by phone.

However, at a meeting recently someone told a tale of purchasing a new camera. Her computer refused to recognize the camera.  She downloaded the software several times.  She tried other computers.

Does this sound like moi?

And the answer is: purchase a new USB cord.

I did.

And it works.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Future pics by a Canon Sureshot.

If you follow me by Instagram, you have seen the above.

Sorry for repeating.

I hope to be back to normal soon.

Whatever normal means.

Our family motto is "We're NOT normal."

See y'all!

Believe it or not there were customers who bought lots more than I did.

This guy drove three hours from Atlanta and bought over forty flats of books for a mission in Africa.

Notice he did think to pull out his spare tire just in case.

There were customers with box trucks ready to be filled.

It was a wild experience to be on the selling side instead of the shopping side.

The book fair was successful which is great news so we can give away the money next year for scholarships and literacy programs.

Plus teachers and charitable thrifts were invited after we closed to gather FREE books and attic treasures.

In other news, on the hunt for windows, I bought a collection of Corning Ware tea pots.

The medium size.

And the large size.

Brace yourself - there is news coming of the state of Horror Monster, my beloved craft stash.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage wicker, vintage books, Ladder, Encyclopedia Britannica
I managed to shop for about 30 minutes this past week.

Found these two early wicker floral display baskets.

One has the original galvanized insert.

Winning the award for the tiniest find is this brass cricket or trinket box.

Two windows and two drawers.

Never found a wood and zinc ladder before.

Quite attractive.

It is in pretty good shape.

A WorkMaster - patent pending.

Now for book fair finds.

I have been buying the discards.

Like these three Webster's unabridged dictionaries and the large Medicology.

A massive hunk of words.

Volumes One and Two of the Gourmet Cookbook.

A complete set of a British encyclopedia.

Winston's.

A group of French books.

A French dictionary and novel.

Part of a set of classic novels.

Three volumes of a Britannica dictionary.

To go with ...

The complete set of 1894 Encyclopedia Britannica!

Some flaws and cover damage but the insides are pretty good considering the age.

Of course I have been scoping out the old reading books.

Yes, Patty, I am still searching for old Alfred.

As you read this, I am probably hard at work.

Or maybe shopping.

I will be sure to show you my finds next week.

Hope to see you at the Book Fair!

See y'all!
